Meetings
The Rotary Club of Gros Islet meets every Tuesday at 12:30 in the Bistro restaurant at Harmony Suites in Rodney Bay. Meetings last 75 minutes and vary in nature from week to week. Generally one meeting each month is dedicated to discussing the various Service Projects, Fundraising and Fellowship activities currently underway. This meeting generally follows the monthly Board Meeting, and it is the members of the Board that present the information to the rest of the Club. The remaining meetings may feature guest speakers on a variety of topics, presentations of donated items to various institutions or press conferences to promote Club projects.
Meetings are generally formal, opening with the Rotary Grace and the Loyal Toast. Visiting Rotarians then introduce themselves, following which members introduce their guests. A three-course lunch is then served (at a cost of EC$45) whilst the business of the meeting gets underway. At the end of the meeting the Sergeant At Arms fines members a modest EC$5 for various misdemeanours, and a raffle is drawn. Members stand and toast Rotary and the meeting is declared over.
Non-members are always welcome at lunch meetings, and it is not uncommon to see members arrive with spouses, colleagues or next-door neighbours. If you are interested in attending to learn more about Rotary please contact Matthew Render, Director of Membership, on 285 1223.
