Wheelchairs purchased by the Hotel Association's Tourism Development Fund through the intervention of both of the Rotary Clubs (Gros Islet & Saint Lucia) were acquired from the World Wheelchair Foundation for distribution to those most in need.  20 Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Gros Islet, including three from the Satellite Club in the South, joined forces with the Rotaract Club of Gros Islet to distribute 100 chairs.

President Joel Crocker coordinated the distribution with the Government Ministry of Social Transformation, which ministry, using the on the ground network of Social Transformation Officers identified the recipients for the chairs.  President Joel said that he was gratified by the excellent turnout of Rotarians and Rotaractors as the Club executed the first phase of the wheelchair distribution on Saturday July 27th.  He said that the day long activity showed the power of partnerships as Rotary and Rotaract combined to deliver chairs purchased by the Saint Lucia Tourism Enhansement Fund, made possible by the World Wheelchair Foundation.  He made special mention of the cooperation with the Lions Club of Vieux Fort who made their facility in Vieux Fort available for the storage of chairs due to be delivered in the next phase of delivery in the coming weeks.  "Rotary truly does connect the world" he said.
